Portland YouthBuilders has two locations.  Our main building is located in the Lents neighborhood of outer SE Portland.  A dedicated facility in inner SE Portland houses our Youth Media worksite.

Construction

For certain students who have a hard time sitting still in the classroom and who love to work with their hands, Portland YouthBuilders’ construction training program is a dream come true.

Students in our construction program build an average of 3 energy-efficient affordable homes each year which are sold to low-income families.   

Students learn about all facets of green residential construction on the jobsite, gaining hands-on experience with excavation, pouring foundations, framing walls and roofs, installing interior finishes, and painting.

PYB is a pre-apprenticeship program approved by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, giving students preferred entry status to many local construction apprenticeship programs.  PYB is a member of the US Green Building Council and Cascadia Green Building Council.  Oregon CCB#111220.
